A rail replacement car service?

We have all heard about rail replacement bus services, but ever heard of a rail replacement car service? Well that is what appeared to be the case at one weekend when the District line was closed between Whitechapel and Barking.

Here is what the bus service was on the day…

And outside, we spotted this!

A car with service A marked at the back (marked in a red circle in the photo)! You would think that it is not only buses doing this service…this particular car is also doing it! But in actual fact, it is transport for the staff who are assisting with the replacement bus service. Perhaps putting service A at the back of the car is not such a smart idea?
