The state of Notting Hill Gate – part 4

The last time I visited Notting Hill Gate, I focussed a lot on the progress works on the Central line. This part of an ongoing refurbishment programme at the station looks purely on the District and Circle line platforms. Just for the record, not much further progress has been made on the Central line platforms since I last visited. Here is what is going on at the present time on the District and Circle lines.

1. A new roundel at Notting Hill Gate. This replaces the old enamel sign that used to be mounted in this location

2. The brand new friezes have been mounted at the District and Circle line platforms. Just behind is the old frieze. Notice the speakers below the frieze? The announcements are pretty loud coming out of those speakers!

3. A new roundel mounted on the brick walls and a new Way Out sign

4. A new help point installed but not in use

5. A view of the platforms

6. Finally, here is something interesting. Old tiling that has been removed has uncovered the old paper frieze! And just below is a temporary frieze!

The works are going well. More further updates in a future blog.
