The state of Notting Hill Gate – part 3
As part of an ongoing work in progress blog series, I decided to revisit Notting Hill Gate station and see what is new. The District and Circle line platforms were not taken on this occasion as they were closed.
Here are a few photos I took of the progress on the Central line…
1. A temporary Way Out sign is mounted on the new tiling

2. The posters that covered the walls of the westbound platform are making this side look very untidy

3. Tiling is complete on the westbound platform except the old roundel sign still lays on the wall

4. The cable racks are neatly placed here…and notice a new fire point sign?

5. The old frieze is still on the wall, for now

6. The new Tube Map with the East London line section shown

7. The new lighting is now working at the platform

8. The corridors and stairs have all their tiling complete

9. On the eastbound platform, a temporary roundel sign has been stuck on the new tiling

10. Finally, there is tiling on the eastbound platform at long last!

11. The removal of the old advert boards on this platform are just as messy

12. There is still a section of wall that does not have tiling and once again, another temporary frieze is on the walls

Finally, something really odd was found outside the steps of one of the Notting Hill Gate station subway entrances – it only makes sense if you live in the area!
I think it is looking good, the progress so far. More progress news to come in a future blog.
