Did you get a free ticket?
How many of you got hold of the 10,000 free tickets at the stations of the East London line? Well, I was one of the lucky ones! Today, London Overground have been giving away free tickets to allow passengers to travel along the full length of the East London line between Dalston Junction and the southern termini at New Cross, Crystal Palace and West Croydon.
For those who want to know what the free ticket looks like, here are the shots!
Below is a specially made Oyster card holder which celebrates the opening of the new London Overground line – this is very special!
Inside the wallet is a special note which states that this wallet was issued to mark the opening of the new London Overground between Dalston Junction and West Croydon on 23rd May 2010.
And as for the free ticket, it is actually a One Day Travelcard for Zones 1-6 worth £7.50! Interestingly enough, even though we are using London Overground, it is actually a London Underground paper ticket! So you can actually use the ticket on the entire London transport network as long as you are within Zones 1 to 6 of course!
This is sure to be a collectable item and a real souvenir to mark the occasion on a very special day.
I hope you enjoyed using the East London line, I certainly did! If you still haven’t, then what are you waiting for, its open now!

I managed to get my free ticket and wallet from Forest Hill, but no special note.
