Tube workers to protest over East London line
Just as you thought the exciting new East London line is ready for opening on 23 May, the RMT Union is unhappy with the company LOROL who own and run London Overground. They will be staging a protest outside Whitechapel station on Monday (24 May) from 7:30am.
The RMT Union have said that the company LOROL should transfer its services to publicly owned London Underground. In addition, the members have accused the company for prioritising shareholders over passengers.
The general secretary of the RMT Union, Bob Crow said to the East London Advertiser:
£1bn has been spent on this upgrade and every single penny of taxpayer subsidy and fare revenue should be invested to improve services and not be removed from the industry in shareholder dividends.
What do you think of this protest? Let me know.
