East London line station progress – Whitechapel (update)

Now we know that there is a further delay in the opening of the East London line, I thought I would show you further progress photos. These were taken at Whitechapel. The stairwells which were previous boarded up have now been taken down. Here are the latest findings…

1. The stairwell to the East London line on the westbound District and Hammersmith & City line platform. All lighted but not open yet.

2. The stairwell in greater detail. The only thing that stands between is the tape!

3. A temporary Overground directional sign. Hopefully a more permanent one will be put up soon.

4. What’s happening below? This photo was taken on the footbridge and what I’ve pointed out is the new Overground roundel sign which only a tiny portion can be seen on the southbound platform.

5. This is the stairwell on the eastbound District and Hammersmith & City line platform. Once again it is closed.

6. Finally, with no room to put Overground. A label has been stuck around the current sign.

It seems everything is ready…but the technical problems are the cause of the delay. Hopefully it won’t be long now!
