Reduced service on Metropolitan line coming this week

Hi all

An important poster at Baker Street station has been displayed to the public informing that there will be a reduced service on the Metropolitan line starting this Monday (25 January) right through until 19 February.

The reason for this is because there will be platform works taking place at Baker Street station to allow the new S Stock trains to serve the station. That means some of the platforms will be out of service during this period.

This is evidence that the new S stock trains will arriving to the Metropolitan line this year. The Metropolitan line will be the first line to receive the new air conditioned trains which will see a gradual withdrawal of the A stock trains that have been in service for fifty years.

The plan is to run both the new S stock and A stock trains simultaneously while the transition to the new stock takes place.

The poster also notes that peak services to the Uxbridge branch will be slightly reduced. It seems that Watford services are unaffected by the change. And for Amersham customers who use Baker Street during off-peak times, they will need to take a train to Wembley Park to get their train as all Amersham trains will be terminating at Wembley Park (meaning no fast Amersham trains between Wembley Park and Finchley Road during off-peak times).
