Circle line extension changes – Aldgate

clinecoverageHi all

To conclude the coverage of the extended Circle line, here is something I found very interesting find at Aldgate station. As you many of you know, on the Metropolitan and Circle lines serve this station and because of the new Circle line extension (which began today), the line diagram signage needed to be changed. But because there is no Hammersmith & City line that serves this station, it is the only Tube station that shows the Hammersmith branch entirely in the Circle line colour. No Hammersmith & City colour shown here! Here is a short gallery…

1. The new line diagram going Northbound towards Liverpool Street.

2. Here is a more spacious version of the line diagram going northbound

3. This is unique, the Hammersmith branch in the Circle line colour only!

And some fascinating old line diagrams…

4. The other platform in which Metropolitan lines can terminate and depart. This is exclusive to the Metropolitan line.

5. Platform 1 is dedicated to the Circle line – I couldn’t help but spot the writing added to the torn label above the line diagram, but not done properly!

And that rounds up our coverage of the Circle line extension. I hope you have a look for yourself and see if the new service has made any improvement. Please do let me know what you think!
